State-funded human services agencies that are affected by lack of funding by the State of Illinois may apply for emergency funding from the City of Elgin, Illinois.
An eligible 501(c)3 agency must be based in Elgin, serve the city's residents and have a contract with the State of Illinois. The agency must show how the lack of funding adversely affects its operations. The city will prioritize agencies that provide child-care services, food, health care, mental health services and shelter.
There are $625,000 in total funds available for the emergency loans. Agencies will be asked to verify invoices submitted to the state and the state's failure to make the payment. In addition, agencies must confirm their request for expedited payments to the State of Illinois' Comptroller's Office. The final loan approvals will be made according to each agency's eligibility and priority status.
Eligible agencies can obtain applications at www.cityofelgin.org/emergencyloan beginning today. The informational meeting will be held on Dec. 17 at 11 a.m. at the The Centre of Elgin West Conference Room, 100 Symphony Way. City staff can assist agencies with information on the online application process and answer questions regarding eligibility and the loan program requirements. The last date to submit applications is Jan. 8.
