The Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) are drafting a Rand Road Corridor plan to update the existing plan that was approved in 1998.
Teska Associates is the primary consultant. The planning process began earlier this month, and the study is expected to last approximately 12 months.
Used daily by thousands of commuters, Rand Road also hosts businesses and provides access to local neighborhoods. The study will address safety, quicker and easier connections for users and improvements at intersections. It also seeks to identify potential commercial development along the corridor.
Drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists and commuters — all users of the corridor — are invited to participate in the study. The Rand Road Corridor Plan invites feedback from users regarding walking and bicycling along the corridor as well as questions from potential bus users regarding safety and the Pace bus system. The short- and long-term plans will incorporate community input and technical assessments of the area.
