Elgin Committee of the Whole discusses 2016 budget

Fingerprinting

The City of Elgin, Illinois Committee of the Whole met on Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. and discussed the 2016 budget.

The committee met in the City Council Chambers. After the committee discussed the 2016 budget, the public was invited to comment. No action was taken at that time.

Under Initiatives and Other Items, the committee was updated regarding the purchase agreement with MorphoTrust USA. The purchase and installation of upgrades to the Livescan Touchprint systems keeps them in compliance with the Criminal Justice information Services security requirements.

The committee also considered the fire protection agreements with DSM Desotch, Illinois Tool Works and St. Charles Properties. The committee discussed how the fire department's resources can be used outside the city's borders in an economically beneficial manner. The fire protection agreements bring in revenues of $61,181.

After announcements, the committee went into an executive session to discuss pending, probable or imminent litigation and personnel matters regarding the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline or dismissal of employees. Both discussion items are exempt under Section 120/2(c)(11) of the Open Meetings Act. When the committee returned from executive session, the meeting was adjourned.
