The sale of 611 Green Bay Rd. paves the way for new luxury apartments and retail stores to Wilmette, Illinois.
"I’m very pleased to announce the completion of our sale of 611 Green Bay Road to M&R, and look forward to welcoming them to Wilmette,” Wilmette Village President Bob Bielinski said. “This is exactly the type of transit-oriented, mixed-use development that was envisioned by the Village Center Master Plan. M&R’s development will be a great addition to the Village Center, adding to its vibrant mix of dining, shopping and entertainment and bringing new customers for our businesses.”
The former Ford dealership site will be transformed into a five-story luxury apartment development. Class A retail stores and amenities are planned for the 6,300 square foot first floor, while the upper four stories will have approximately 75 one-, two- and three-bedroom high-end apartments.
M&R Development has developed 14 properties with 3,755 residential units over the last 15 years. Its experience and financial offer made its proposal a winner over the other contenders. In addition to the property's $3.1 million price, M&R is also donating $80,000 to the Village's affordable housing programs, including two years of housing assistance for low-income seniors and persons with disabilities.
