The Village of Buffalo Grove will formally present its 2016 draft budget at the Nov. 16 board meeting, but  residents can review it now at www.vbg.org/530/Budget.

The 2016 budget is a crucial road map for the village in the upcoming year, taking a fiscally conservative and forward-looking approach.

Core services provided by the village include administration, finance, public works, police and fire services, civil engineering, building inspections, urban planning and-zoning, golf operations and community-event support. Regional partnerships or commissions provide non-core services, including water delivery to the village water system, while contract services provide trash collection and sewer services. Non-core services are covered in part by direct and indirect fees, including the 911 surcharge, ad valorem tax levy and user fees.

The village's 2016 draft budget continues a conservative approach in maintaining reserve funds for Buffalo Grove's operating needs while meeting its long-term financial goals. The village also continues to plan for its growth and development through FY 2016.
