Desplainespolice

The Des Plaines Police Department again is partnering with the Park Ridge and Niles Police Departments for the annual Cops for Coats donation drive through Nov. 11.

Donations of clean, gently worn coats are being accepted 24 hours a day through Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the designated dropbox in the lobby of the Des Plaines Police Department at 1418 Miner St. Donations also may be dropped off at the Park Ridge Police Department, 200 S. Vine Street, and the Niles Police Department, 7000 W. Touhy Avenue.

"With the holidays approaching, many of our residents are thinking about ways to help others," Des Plaines Police Officer Michael Heidkamp said. "Cops For Coats provides this opportunity. Our goal is to provide warm winter coats for those residents in Maine Township that do not have winter coats for the upcoming cold-weather season. People may bring gently worn, clean winter coats that they wish to discard to the Des Plaines Police Station any time of the day or night.”

The coat distribution is scheduled for Nov. 14th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Park Ridge at the Maine Township Center, 1700 Ballard Road.
