The Village of Wilmette's Housing Opportunity Development Corporation has filed an application for a Planned Unit Development (PUD) and special-use permit for construction of a multi-family, three-story complex of approximately 20 units of affordable rental housing in the NR (neighborhood retail) zoned district at 1925 Wilmette Avenue.
The PUD application will be heard at 7 p.m. on Nov. 3 in the Council Chambers of Village Hall, 1200 Wilmette Ave.
The first floor of the complex would feature parking, a community room and the management office. The upper two stories would contain the rental units. Parking would be almost completely under the building, and each rental unit would have one on-site parking space.
The apartment building is intended to serve as a transitional space between retail and residential areas of the neighborhood. The surrounding properties are already fully developed, so the new construction would not impact development or redevelopment in the area.
