The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be conducting TWO road improvement projects beginning on Monday, May 9.
Patching and resurfacing of Ballard Road, from Rand Road in Des Plaines to Greenwood Road in Niles will have intermittent daytime lane closures beginning Monday, May 9. This project includes constructing new ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps and is expected to be completed in early September. Access to residences and businesses within the work zone will be maintained throughout construction.
Northwest Highway (Illinois 14) and Mount Prospect Road will require lane closures beginning Monday, May 9 for reconstructing and widening the existing intersection, installing ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps and new modernized traffic signals and improving drainage. This project is anticipated to be completed in early October. Throughout construction one lane in each direction will be maintained, with lane widths reduced to 9 feet 6 inches just before the intersection.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through these areas. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
