55

Illinois State House District 55 issued the following announcement on Jan. 16

As the 2020 Census approaches, state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is encouraging individuals interested in working for the effort to attend a U.S. Census Bureau recruiting event scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Oakton Community College, located at 1600 E. Golf Rd. in Des Plaines.

“With the 2020 Census getting underway, there are many great opportunities for anyone in search of employment,” Moylan said. “The positions being offered by the Census Bureau have flexible hours and good wages.”

The U.S. Census Bureau is currently hiring clerks, field supervisors, census takers and office operations supervisors. The pay for these positions ranges from $26.50 per hour to $29.50 per hour. Full time, part time and intermittent employment are all available. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a valid social security number and an email address. Applications will be available at the event and are also available online at 2020census.gov/jobs.

“The Census determines how we are represented in Congress, so it is essential to ensure that we get the representation we deserve,” Moylan said. “That is why we need good workers to get the word out in our communities to secure a high participation rate and ensure appropriate representation.”

For more information about this event please contact Moylan’s full-time constituent office at 847-635-6821 or email StateRepMoylan@gmail.com.
