The price of local government in 2017: Village of Hoffman Estates

The Village of Hoffman Estates budget was $136.36 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $8,407 per household.

That's an increase of 7.6 percent from 2016, when the village spent $126.73 million, or $7,813 per household.

Hoffman Estates has 16,220 households and a population of 51,895.

Since 2001, the Village of Hoffman Estates budget has grown by 4.4 percent, from $130.64 million. The village population has grown 4.8 percent over the same period, from 49,495.

Salaries accounted for 24 percent of village spending in 2017. Hoffman Estates property taxpayers paid $32.73 million for 366 full-time employees and 117 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had 352 full-time employees and 49 part-time employees, and spent $29.61 million.
