CITY OF ELGIN: CDBG Application Availability for 2019 Program Year

Local gov stock 01

City of Elgin issued the following announcement on Dec. 13.

The City of Elgin is pleased to announce that applications for 2019 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds will be accepted from eligible non-profit organizations from Friday, December 7, 2018 through Monday, January 7, 2019. In addition to assisting non-profits, the City anticipates programming a portion of its 2019 CDBG allocation toward other community improvement initiatives such as City infrastructure projects in low- to moderate-income neighborhoods and residential rehabilitation activities for low- to moderate-income homeowners. Information and applications regarding these programs will be made available at a future date. Although the city has not yet been notified of its 2019 CDBG allocation amount, it is expected to be consistent with previous allocations of approximately $800,000.

Non-profit organizations may utilize CDBG funds to support new or expanded public service activities or to complete capital improvement projects that meet federal eligibility criteria. The city is especially interested in proposals that leverage other funding and increase agency capacity to serve the community.

All CDBG-funded activities must benefit low- to moderate-income Elgin residents and address at least one of the priority needs identified in the Kane-Elgin Consolidated Plan for 2015-2019.

Those interested in applying will find guidelines and application materials at (http://www.countyofkane.org/Pages/ocr.aspx) beginning December 7, 2018. The City will host an application workshop on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at The Centre of Elgin, West Conference Room, located at 100 Symphony Way, Elgin, IL 60120. An overview of the CDBG program and application process will be provided. Prospective applicants are encouraged to attend. Those unable to do so may contact Josh Beck at the Kane County Office of Community Reinvestment (630-444-2960 or beckjosh@co.kane.il.us) for assistance. Applications must be submitted electronically to ocr@co.kane.il.usby Monday, January 7, 2019, at 5:00 p.m.
