VILLAGE OF BROOKFIELD: Utility Billing Changes

Village of Brookfield issued the following announcement on July 13.

Change in Billing Procedures – Effective July 1, 2018

An Ordinance amending the Village Code regarding Village of Brookfield utility billing procedures was approved at the June 25, 2018 board meeting.  If your account number begins with a 1, 2, or 3, the billing was changed from a quarterly billing cycle to a bi-monthly billing cycle.  The following items should be noted:

  • Residents are billed bi-monthly for water, sewer, and garbage (where applicable)
  • Payment is due 21 days after the bill date
  • Penalties will be assessed one day after the due date
  • Delinquent and shut-off procedures will begin nine days after the due date, with shutoffs starting 14 days after the due date
Water Rate Increase – Effective July 1, 2018

An ordinance amending the Village municipal code regarding the water rates was passed on June 25, 2018.  Water rates are based on a cost per 1,000 gallons – the new rate effective July 1, 2018 is $0.01104 per gallon, or $11.04 per 1,000 gallons.  The July 1, 2018 rate increased 3.301% as shown below:

The Village Offers 5 Convenient Ways to Pay Your Utility Bill

Option #1: Pay in person at Village Hall – 8820 Brookfield Avenue

  • Village Hall hours: Monday 8:30 am – 6:00 pm, Tuesday-Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
  • We accept cash, money orders, personal/business checks, and all major credit cards
Option #2: Pay in the drop box

  • Main drop box located in the Village Hall parking lot
  • Additional drop box located at Fire Station 1, 9001 Shields
  • Both drop boxes are available 24/7
Option #3: Automatic payments

  • Payments can be automatically debited from your checking or savings account
  • Download and complete the Application for Auto Payment of Water Bills
  • Submit your completed application to Village Hall with a voided check or bank letter
Option #4: Pay online with eSuite

  • Visit eSuite Utility Services, also accessible from the Village of Brookfield homepage by clicking “Pay Water Bill”
  • View your bill and pay via credit card with no processing fee
  • Payments generally post to your water account immediately
Option #5: Mail payment in the envelope included with your bill

  • Make checks payable to “Village of Brookfield”
  • All payments are processed the same day they are received at the lockbox
  • NOTE: If submitting payment through your bank’s website, please allow a minimum processing time of 10 business days prior to the due date.  Your bank prepares and mails a check as payment.  Only payments made from our eSuite website are processed electronically and received the same day.
eBills

Primary account holders now have the option to receive bills via email.  If you wish to enroll in the eBill program, please complete the eBill Enrollment Form
