Attorney General Lisa Madigan's decision to not seek re-election to a fifth term has prompted much speculation, according to posts on the Daily Herald's Facebook page.
While some respondents are asking whether the move means Madigan will be running for some other office, others hope it means her father, House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago), will also resign.
“What does she plan on running for?” Dorothy Walega posted.

“(U.S. Sen. Dick) Durbin will retire and Lisa will be our next Senator,” Gary Kochanek wrote.
According to a Capitol Fax report cited by the Daily Herald, Madigan said she will not for any office in the 2018 elections or for Chicago mayor in 2019.
The most popular sentiment expressed in response to the Lisa Madigan's decision appeared to be the hope that Michael Madigan would follow suit.
“Time for all Madigans to go!” Amy Bain posted.
