Anson Adams Mount IV was born on February 25, 1973, in White Bluff, Tennessee. He was raised alongside his older siblings in a family involved in media and sports. Mount attended Dickson County High School and Sewanee: The University of the South before completing his education at Columbia University.
Mount began his acting career on stage, gaining recognition for his 1998 performance in “Corpus Christi.” He made his film debut in 2000 with “Tully” and later earned critical acclaim for his role in the 2009 film “Cook County,” which was honored at several major film festivals.
On television, Mount is best known for portraying Cullen Bohannon in AMC’s “Hell on Wheels” and for his roles as Black Bolt in Marvel’s “Inhumans” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” He also stars as Captain Christopher Pike in “Star Trek: Discovery” and “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.”
Mount’s ties to Arlington Heights stem from his status as a notable figure in the entertainment industry, highlighting the city’s impact on his early development. His contributions span theater, film, and television.
In addition to his acting career, Mount serves as an adjunct assistant professor at Columbia University. He married Darah Trang in 2018 and they have a daughter born in December 2021.
