Three staff members from Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 have been recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education with 2026 Those Who Excel Awards. The awards highlight educators and staff who have made significant contributions to their schools and communities.

Jenny Kapustka, a music teacher at Field Elementary School, received the Award of Excellence, which is the highest honor in the program. According to the district’s announcement, “To receive the Award of Excellence, the highest TWE honor, educators must demonstrate a deep commitment to the success of all students and inspire other professionals within and beyond their schools.”

Angela Pontikis, an SLC teacher at Washington Elementary School, was honored with the Award of Meritorious Service. Quinn Galindo, a psychologist at Field Elementary School, received the Award of Special Recognition. These distinctions are given to individuals who help improve school culture and contribute unique skills to their educational communities.

Superintendent Dr. Ben Collins commented on the recognition: “Our dedicated staff consistently work behind the scenes without seeking recognition, so it’s truly thrilling to see their hard work celebrated at the state level. I’m excited to share that the Illinois State Board of Education has awarded three D64 staff members with the prestigious 2026 Those Who Excel Awards!” He added: “Please join me in congratulating Jenny, Quinn, and Angela on this well-deserved achievement!”

The Those Who Excel Awards are presented annually by the Illinois State Board of Education to acknowledge outstanding service among educators across Illinois.
