Elgin Public Museum

225 Grand Boulevard, Elgin, IL 60120

This natural history museum was founded by George Lord, a local politician and armchair naturalist. In 1904 he started building the museum, which is the oldest continuous-use museum structure in Illinois. Inside this Lord’s Park museum are zoological and ornithological mounts (with quite a few extinct species), geological and paleontological artifacts, and an exhibit about Native Americans of the area.
