Roosevelt Elementary School recognized James Sullivan, a former student and current senior at Maine South High School, during the January Board Meeting for his recent Eagle Scout project. Sullivan’s initiative involved working with a local woodshop to design and construct custom cabinets intended for the storage and upkeep of rollerblades used in the school’s physical education program.

Roosevelt Principal Dr. Kevin Dwyer commented on the collaboration, stating it was a “wonderful partnership between our school and the community.” According to Dr. Dwyer, students throughout the district are already making use of the new cabinets.

Sullivan is also noted as a member of Troop 1, Illinois’s first Boy Scout troop, which was established at Roosevelt in 1912.
