David Emmanuel Kaplan was born on November 5, 1968. Kaplan grew up in Skokie and attended Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he earned a degree in English. He began his career in sports broadcasting with Chicago sports radio station WMVP-AM. Kaplan became well-known for his role as host of Sports Central on WGN Radio, which became a top-rated sports talk show. He has also worked as a basketball analyst for ESPN and has hosted various sports programs, including Chicago Tribune Live and Kap and J. Hood. Kaplan’s extensive work in sports media includes covering Chicago Cubs games and producing content on his popular YouTube channel. He has received three Emmy Awards and has been inducted into the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame. Kaplan’s career and achievements have solidified his connection to Skokie and the Chicago sports community.
