Frank Mutz, a 1967 graduate of New Trier High School in Winnetka, Ill., recently marked 50 years as the head of Moncrief Heating and Air Conditioning, located in Atlanta, Ga.

Moncrief was founded in 1898 by Stephen Price Moncrief, who ran the company until his death in 1923, when ownership transferred to Laurence Kent, Sr. Kent sold to the Mutz family in 1958, and Frank became owner in 1973, taking the reins from his father, Tom.

Frank joined the company following an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, where he had risen to the rank of first lieutenant. He graduated from Bowling Green State University following his time at New Trier High School.

Mutz recently moved into the role of "President Emeritus" with Moncrief, following the company's acquisition by Ace Hardware in August. Frank's son, Phil, the company's general manager, said the acquisition brings “a depth of resources" that allows the company to bring its “customer service and quality work to a wider audience and grow the business.”

Located at 935 Chattahoochee Avenue, NW in Atlanta, Moncrief provides residential and commercial HVAC installation, maintenance and service. The company has more than 1,900 reviews on Google with an almost-perfect rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars.
