Judson Tennis Participates in Fall Northern Indiana Trip

The Judson University Tennis teams participated in a fall trip that spanned the Indiana Tollway as the Eagles traveled to Grace College, Goshen College, and Bethel University (IN). 

To begin the trip, the Eagles took a pair of losses. The women fell 7-0 while the men lost 4-1. Judson's lone win on the day was a Julius Fortun winning sixth singles 6-2 and 6-0. 

On Friday, both teams traveled to Goshen to take on the Maple Leafs. Judson's women lost 5-2, while the men lost 6-1. The women's victories were in #2 doubles (lost team point 2-1), #3 singles, and #4 singles. In second doubles, Caroline Johnson and Linda Nhiwatiwa won 6-2. Nhiwatiwa won #2 singles in comeback fashion 5-7, 6-1, 10-7, while Johnson won #4 singles in straight sets 6-1, 6-3. The men's victories were in #1 singles and #2 doubles (Goshen won team point 2-1). Veltkamp made quick work in top singles with a 6-4, 6-3 victory. Hugo La Hei and Veltkamp won #2 doubles convincingly 6-2. 

On Saturday, the men's team took down Bethel convincingly 6-1. Judson earned the doubles point by sweeping the three doubles matches by the identical scores of 6-3. Veltkamp and La Hei won #1 doubles, William Barnes and Antoine Adamiak took #2 doubles, while Julius Fortun and Joshua Bavich won third doubles. Veltkamp took care of buisness in the top singles 7-6(4), 7-6(4). Max Fortun won his #2 singles 6-2, 6-2. La Hei was a 6-4, 6-2 straight-set winner in #4 singles. Barnes was a 6-1, 6-3 winner in fifth singles, while Moosa Choudhary won 6-2, 6-2 in #6 singles. On the ladies side, Judson lost 7-0. 

Judson next participates in the ITA regionals. The women's team plays September 22-24 in Bourbonnais, Illinois. While the men play theirs September 29-30 in Notre Dame, Indiana.
