Thomas Middle School recently changed its logo to reflect a rainbow hue, but the school is not discussing why.

The school failed to respond to an interview request regarding the logo change after it was brought to the attention of North Cook News by a concerned parent living in the district.

Thomas Middle School is at 430 N. Belmont Ave. in Arlington Heights.

The parent discovered the rainbow logo for the school buried in a “back to school” document. The document has since been updated but a screenshot of the logo was captured.

The rainbow depicted in the school’s logo is often meant to promote gay pride.

Earlier this year Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a bill requiring LGBT history be taught in schools.

Thomas Middle School is one of the higher-ranked public middle schools in the state.

In 2018, the school district announced logo changes. Since then the logo has been altered frequently to change the background colors to themes.
