Arlington Heights FD responds to 150 fires in 2017

Arlington Heights Fire Department responded to 1241 calls in 2017 - 2 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Arlington Heights included 150 fires - 72 structure fires, 23 vehicle fires and 55 other fires. The fire department also responded to 11 calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $670,067 in fire loss - or about $4,467 per fire.

The department also received 1080 false calls, including 23 malicious calls and 1057 other false calls.

The Arlington Heights Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 106 active employees and 102 retired or inactive employees, was $908,644 positive as of December 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $7,269 for every fire in 2016.
