Illinois State Rep. Fred Crespo (D-Hoffman Estates) has joined the list of politicians whose names are featured prominently on the GOP-sponsored anti-House Speaker Mike Madigan (D-Chicago) website, BossMadigan.com.

“Fred Crespo (has) taken nearly $1 million in political funds from Mike Madigan and voted five times to make Madigan the Speaker of the House,” the state GOP said on the website.

The state GOP recently added Crespo to its list of several other legislators whose names have been compiled on BossMadigan.com for reasons of cash and comfort. The party’s chief complaint about the longtime Speaker of the House and his cronies boils down to obstruction of progress, as its portal explicitly states that “Illinois’ future is being blocked by MIKE MADIGAN.”

In response to what it terms “45 years of failure” in Illinois legislative leadership, Illinois’ Republican stakeholders pulled no punches in their condemnation of Madigan’s longtime controversial leadership and the extent to which they say Crespo has become involved.

“While Madigan and Crespo look out for each other, they’ve also teamed up on a phony budget that would have increased state debt by $8 billion or forced a massive tax hike on Illinois families,” the website said. “Worst of all, Crespo voted to make sure he gets paid even while he refuses to pass a balanced budget.”
