Northbrook trustees review 1000 Skokie, Anets Woods developments
The Northbrook board of trustees considered the 1000 Skokie mixed use and Anets Woods developments at its March 8 meeting.
The public was invited to comment after village staff presented updates on each project.
The 1000 Skokie Blvd. mixed-used development was summarized by Assistant Director of Development and Planning Services David Schoon.
The Planning and Zoning Committee reviewed the number of units in the residential project and traffic circulation for the proposed Children's Learning Adventure. With the applicant's revisions, the committee recommended approval with the stipulation that the children's center be limited to 500 children.
The issue addressed at the board meeting was the preliminary plan approval, which would require a text amendment, rezoning, special permit and approval of the resolution for the development concept plan and plat of subdivision. With the approval of the preliminary plan, the village could not require large changes in the plan in the future. After discussion by the board and comments from the public, ordinances 2016-11, 2016-12 and 2016-13, as well as resolution No. 2016-29, were approved.
After hearing updates on the Anets Woods subdivision and comments from the public, the board turned down the special permit for the residential planned development. Following comments from the developer's attorney, Hal Franke, the board voted to table the item and reconsider it on April 12.
The village manager urged Northbrook residents to review the draft budget for fiscal year 2016-2017. It can be viewed here on the village website.
