Officials break ground on Greenbrier Senior Living project.
The Greenbrier Senior Living groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, March 15, signified the beginning of the $30 million assisted living and memory care project.
Prospect Heights Mayor Nicholas Helmer, Evergreen Real Estate Services President Stephen Rappin and Pathways Senior Living members provided the ceremonial shovelfuls of dirt before the project commenced.
The 102 units of the project are divided between a three-story building with 69 units and a one-story building with 32 units. Located on Elmhurst Road, the two buildings will accommodate seniors in need of assisted care and memory care. The single-story memory care units include an enclosed courtyard for safe strolling, secure common areas, gardens and staff supervision to help residents with memory issues. The three-story assisted living units will be available as one or two-bedroom units with a kitchen and washer and dryer.
In addition, residents can choose to dine inside or outdoors. The outdoor fireplace and grill, salon, spa and chapel are among the amenities planned for the facility.
Greenbrier's anticipated completion is spring 2017. The project will provide much-needed housing for the growing population of senior citizens, as well as a safe living environment for residents with memory problems.
