Tree trimming is scheduled to begin this week in Mount Prospect.

Parkway tree trimming will begin the week of Feb. 22 in the Village of Mount Prospect.

The village board has awarded the contract to R.W. Hendricksen Co.

The contractor will begin trimming the parkway trees in section 7.3, followed by 9, 5.1 and 6. The tree-trimming map can be viewed here.

Notifications have already been delivered to residents of section 7.3. Residents of the remaining sections will be notified two to three weeks in advance of the tree trimming in their area -- look for hand-delivered trim cards. All tree trimming should be completed by early summer.

R.W. Hendrickson Co. submitted the low bid, at $181,746.80 for the 2016 tree trimming and $184,294.10 for 2017. The estimated number of trees to be trimmed in 2016 and 2017 are 4,367 and 4,774, respectively. The total bid also included $8,000 for emergency tree trimming and $3,600 for emergency equipment. R.W. Hendrickson Co. has trimmed trees for the city from 1994 to 2002, as well as in 2007 and 2008. The company has extensive experience with municipal tree work contracts.

Residents with questions regarding the parkway tree trimming should call the Public Works Department at 847-870-5640 or send an email to publicworksdept@mountprospect.org.
