Buffalo Grove board meets, passes tax ordinances.

Buffalo Grove board meets, passes tax ordinances.

Tax levy abatement and collections on taxable property were among the ordinances passed on Dec. 21 by the Village of Buffalo Grove board.

The consent agenda presented to the Buffalo Grove board included ordinances abating tax levies, requesting that Cook County and Lake County not collect losses on taxable properties and agreements with Gewalt Hamilton Associates Inc.

Unless a board member or citizen requests more discussion on an item on the Consent Agenda, which is then removed for further consideration, the entire group is passed with one vote. Items removed from the Consent Agenda will be considered separately under new business.

The board also discussed a one-year contract extension with Tap Room Hospitality under unfinished business. Also up for discussion was the request to seek competitive bids and proposals for a variety of village projects. Competitive bidding allows the village to select the best price for a project and keeps costs down for taxpayers.

The board also asked for questions from the audience. Members of the public are welcome to bring questions and concerns on items that are not on the regular agenda. Speakers are limited to 10 minutes and prohibited from disrespectful remarks or comments about other people. The items brought before the board by the public may be referred to village staff or the appropriate agency for follow-up.

Following public comment, the village board retired to an executive session.
