Two public hearings held by the Elgin Liquor Control Commission

The Elgin, Illinois Liquor Control Commission held two public hearings and reviewed a fee waiver request at a recent meeting.

A public hearing was held regarding the 7-11 store at 957 W. Summit St. A Class B-4 liquor license already exists, but the operator of the franchise has changed. J-Krishna Inc. is now doing business as 7-11 at the site. The motion for approval was seconded and approved with a roll call vote.

The commission also held a public hearing for Class E and Class S liquor licenses at Fiesta Mexicana, located at 50 N. Spring St. Benara Corp. is doing business as Fiesta Mexicana at this site. Corporation Counsel William Cogley provided the history of the property and revocation of the liquor license due to the previous licensee's actions. Cogley also provided documentation from the landlord and noted that other Benara Corp. restaurants have not had issues with liquor licenses. After discussion, the commissioners approved the liquor license applications.

Cogley also outlined Rambhadra Inc.'s request to waive the $10,000 fee for a new Class B liquor license to the commission. After discussing the request and precedents for waiving the fee, the commission voted to approve the fee waiver.
