Buffalo Grove board met, approved FY2016 budget and tax levies
The Buffalo Grove, Illinois Village Board met on Dec. 7 and approved bids, contracts and the 2016 budget and tax levies.
After approving the minutes of the regular meeting on Nov. 2 and special meeting minutes of Nov. 16, the board approved warrant Number 1257 to pay $5.5 million in bills.
Under the Village President's report, IAFF Local 3177 presented the board with fire helmets, proclamations honoring the winners of the Tenth District Leadership Awards were read and presented, and November was declared Native American Heritage Month. Appointments to the Health Commission were tabled until the Dec. 21 board meeting.
Village Manager Dane Bragg reported that IGS Energy Services' solicitor permit has been suspended and a revocation hearing was scheduled for Dec. 14. He also announced that Buffalo Grove had received the Lake County Municipal League 2015 Innovation Award and thanked Deputy Village Manager Jennifer Maltas for her work on IT services. The staff proposal for street resurfacing and the issuance of $6 million in bonds was presented. The board voted that staff should proceed.
After Special Business, the board heard reports from the trustees. Trustee Andrew Stein reminded Village residents that outdated medications can be disposed of at the Village Hall. He also urged residents to keep track of their prescription drugs.
The items in the Consent Agenda were approved unanimously. These included a contract with North American Midway Entertainment, rescinding the Outback Steakhouse Class A liquor license, awarding the bid for custodian services to GSF-USA, the purchase of Dell AppAssure software from Paragon Micro, execution of an agreement with AT&T, an update to the Village ordinance to reflect changes in the Lake County Watershed Development Ordinance, a special use permit and variations for Willow Grove Elementary School, a change order for the salt dome construction contract, weather siren equipment upgrades, receipt of the Firefighters' and Police Pension Funds municipal compliance reports and approval of the side letter of agreement with the Metropolitan Alliance of Police.
An ordinance regarding a moratorium on new tobacco shops failed, as did one dealing with an economic incentive agreement with Connexion. The board approved the FY2016 levy and collection of taxes and the FY2016 Village budget.
The board also approved an agreement with Ultra Strobe Communications Inc. for emergency vehicle lighting services and the crack sealing bid with Denier Inc. The one-year contract extension with Tap Room Hospitality was tabled until the Dec. 21 board meeting.
After questions from the audience regarding School District 21 crossing guards and comments on the FY2016 budget, the meeting was adjourned.
